Rapper Kanye West's mother dies after cosmetic surgery
The mother of rap star Kanye West has died after complications which developed following a cosmetic surgery procedure.Dr Donda West gave up her academic career three years ago tobecome her son's manager died in a Los Angeles hospital on Saturday.

Her publicist Patricia Green said she passed away "as the result ofcomplications from a cosmetic surgical procedure", but gave no moredetails.
A coroner's spokesman said an autopsy would be performed laterthis week. He did not know what sort of surgery West underwent, butmedia reports said she had a breast reduction and abdominoplasty, amajor procedure commonly referred to as a "tummy tuck."
West died Saturday night at age 58 at Centinela FreemanRegional Medical Center in Marina del Rey after she stopped breathingat her home, according to Deborah Ettinger, a hospital vice president.She was taken to the hospital by paramedics.

"We tried to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful," Ettinger said.
West did not have surgery at the hospital, said Ettinger.
A plastic surgeon, Dr. Andre Aboolian of Beverly Hills, said Mondaythat West had approached him months ago about having cosmetic surgery.He said he never performed the procedure, telling her he was worriedabout a pre-existing condition she had.
Aboolian told West two weeks ago that she needed to get amedical clearance before he would agree to do the surgery, said his publicist, Jo-Ann Geffen. But he never heard back from her.
Aboolian was said to be concerned about a pre-existing condition West had.
The celebrity news Web site TMZ.com reported that Beverly Hillsplastic surgeon, Jan Adams, said he performed surgery on West beforeshe died, but that her death was unforeseen and he did nothing wrong.
In a statement issued late on Monday, Kanye West thanked"everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country." He did not address any surgery or health issues.
West's spokesman said the family "asks for privacy during this time of grief".
The 30-year-old often spoke publicly of his close relationshipwith his mother. She raised him alone after her husband left when Westwas three.
The rapper had just landed in London when he heard the news of his mother's passing and immediately flew to Los Angeles.
Dr. West was an English professor at Chicago State University until2004, before leaving to work with her son, becoming his manager and CEO of Super Good, the parent company of Kanye West Enterprises.
She was the inspiration for the song, "Hey Mama," on West's 2005 album"Late Registration," in which he sings: "Hey Mama, I wanna scream soloud for you, cuz I'm so proud of you ... I appreciate what you allowedfor me. I just want you to be proud of me."
In May, she published the book "Raising Kanye: Life Lessonsfrom the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star," in which she paid homage to herfamous son.
