Does a tech job in New York sound attractive? Better check the numbers.
Average IT salary: Rose 4.74 percent to $80,006 between 2005 and 2006, the third highest in the nation. Source: Dice.com

  • New York State's Job Market Health: Net loss of 800 jobs, one-quarter of one percent of the state's tech industry workforce, in 2005.
